Before the start of the war, the head of the public organization Association of Democratic Development, Anna Nikolenko-Baeva, worked with gender issues in Chernihiv, was actively involved in participatory practices both at the regional and all-Ukrainian levels. A full-scale war significantly changed its activities, but the values and beliefs that public activity is possible only in a democratic country remained unchanged.
