


"Women, peace, security" - round table meetings and an exhibition of paintings dedicated to the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 at the regional level are organized in Chernihiv in the city library named after M.M. Kotsyubinsky.
October 2025 marked the 25th anniversary of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 "Women, Peace, Security" —, a key document highlighting the role of women in peacebuilding, conflict prevention and rebuilding societies. This topic has acquired special importance for Ukraine, which continues to resist Russian aggression and at the same time is actively working on the restoration of the state.
Participants of the meeting in Chernihiv, who represent the Coalition "Chernihiv Oblast 1325", as well as representatives of the authorities involved in the implementation of the regional action plan, discussed the results of its implementation in the region and the development of a new document.
It is the Coalition that plays a leading role in the implementation of the tasks of OPD 1325, and the organizations in its composition managed to attract more than UAH 29 million last year. additional funds from the community.
Among the main achievements of the Coalition "Chernihivshchyna 1325" in the region:
implementation of coalition projects by women's NGOs, authorities and the security and defense sector;
development of local Action Plans 1325 in some territorial communities of Chernihiv region (Ivanivska and Ladynska TG);
drawing attention to the needs of categories of the population such as veterans/veteran women and their families, women with HIV, rural women affected by SNPC and others;
expansion of areas of support relevant for residents of Chernihiv region regarding information security, countering mobbing and cyberbullying, responding to security challenges, etc.
On the eve of the round table meeting, the members of the Coalition created a picture dedicated to the ideas of 1325. It symbolically reflects the power of Ukrainian women who unite to preserve life and create the future. Two figures in traditional clothes nurture the "Tree of Life" - the image of revival, stability and procreation. The bird above them symbolizes peace and hope, which is born thanks to unity, wisdom and mutual support. The work echoes the idea of "Women. Peace. Security", emphasizing the role of women in creating peace and strengthening Chernihiv Oblast.
During the event, six champions of the Chernihiv Oblast 1325 Coalition were also honored for their significant contribution to the implementation of the regional action plan.

The "Chernihiv Oblast 1325" coalition was formed in the summer of 2023 with the aim of consolidating joint actions on the localization of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 "Women, Peace, Security" and the National Action Plan for its implementation in the Chernihiv region with the support of the Ukrainian Women's Fund and the assistance of the Office of the Government Commissioner for Gender Policy in the region. Today, 35 organizations and institutions belong to the Coalition in the region.
The events took place within the framework of the communication campaign of regional coalitions 1325, which was supported by the UWF.
