Anastasiia Shcherbyna, along with her husband and three daughters (Polina, Sofia, and Solomiia), was forced to leave her native Donetsk region. They found a new home in the village of Khlopianyky in the Chernihiv region, where they are gradually paying off the cost of their purchased house.
"Despite the difficult circumstances, we are trying to build our new life," Anastasiia shares. The family has already replaced the windows on their own to keep the house warm.
For many IDP families who move into old rural houses, preparing for winter becomes a significant challenge. That is why support from ZOA in Ukraine and the Association for Democratic Development, provided with funding from the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund (UHF), is extremely important.
Thanks to the assistance received, the Shcherbyna family was able to stock up on firewood for the winter.
