Childhood should be free of violence!
The training on the topic "Identification and algorithms for responding to cases of domestic, gender-based and sexual violence against children in the activities of humanitarian workers" was held in Dnipro for teams of children's spaces working within the PROMESSA project: "Pearl" — in Novovodolazka, "Kryla" — in Zlatopilska, "Zherelo" in Tomakivska communities.
The purpose of the training is to form in employees of children's spaces stable competencies in preventing and countering violence and providing timely assistance, effective support for children and their parents, as well as determining safety risks for the child and clearly implementing the algorithm of immediate response, support and referral to specialized services.
During two days, participants and participants of the training:
- they deepened their knowledge about the forms of violence, its causes and consequences, disproportionate gender impact, methods of preventing and countering manifestations of violence;
- we got acquainted with international standards and legal framework of protection in the field of prevention and counteraction of violence and social and legal protection of children in Ukraine;
- learned to recognize behavioral, psychological and physical indicators of violence. And — also developed skills in identifying situations of abuse, domestic violence, including gender-based, bullying, etc. And improved communication skills with children.
It is especially important that the space teams received a clear step-by-step algorithm of actions to detect violence and interact with specialized services.
The participants of the training evaluated its conduct at a high organizational and meaningful level. After all, the acquired knowledge and skills will allow to take care of the best interests of the child in practice.
The project "PROMESSA: Child protection, emergency response and health care for the most vulnerable families affected by the conflict in the Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions" is implemented by the NGO "Association for Democratic Development" in partnership with the branch of the foundation "Ter des Om Italy ETS" in Ukraine (TDH Italy) Terre des Hommes Italia in Ucraina. The project is financed by Italian Cooperation. And it is implemented with the aim of strengthening mental health and improving the social adaptation of children and their families who suffered from the war in the Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
