"For our family, it's just salvation": residents of the border of Chernihiv Oblast continue to receive financial assistance. Residents of Novgorod-Sivershchyna continue to receive financial support within the framework of the project "Supporting the vulnerable population living in the border settlements of Chernihiv Oblast". As part of this initiative, people from vulnerable categories who have successfully registered have the opportunity to receive one-time financial assistance once every 6 months.

The cash payment of 10,800 hryvnias is designed to help the civilian population solve urgent humanitarian problems and ensure basic needs in the conditions of war.

The project is implemented thanks to the joint efforts of the NGO "Association for Democratic Development" and the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) with the financial support of Norway.

Each such payment — is not just a statistic, but a real help to specific families who, despite all the dangers, stay at home and choose their survival every day under constant fire. One of the recipients of the aid, Mrs. Valentina (name changed for security), who lives with her large family on the border itself, shared her story.

"We are incredibly grateful for this financial assistance and support from our family in such a difficult time. For us, it became a huge relief and salvation. We live in a small village of the Novgorod-Siversky district, just 15 kilometers from the border, so it is very difficult and disturbing to be here now", Ms. Valentina shares.

A woman has a large family of five people, including two granddaughters. The younger girl is now 7 years old and has a disability. All these years, the family did everything possible to help her overcome the disease, so almost every penny from the family budget went to her treatment and rehabilitation.

"With the beginning of the war, life became even more difficult. Previously, we were saved by a small farm, but lately my health has been failing me a lot, my strength is not the same and there is also constant shelling, so we have to sell it little by little. The funds received allowed us to provide the family with the most important things and helped them prepare a little for winter. Thank you very much for not forgetting about us, the residents of the border, in trouble", Ms. Valentina emphasizes with gratitude.
