How do we attract volunteers and cooperate with them? How is our team formed and what are our responsibilities and among whom do we distribute them? Answers to these questions are important for every public organization.
NGO "Association of Democratic Development" increases its feminist organizational capacity. For this purpose, a strategic session was held on the development of NGO policies, in particular, the policy of attracting volunteers and the policy of attracting and managing personnel.
The purpose of the event was to develop a common vision of the principles, rules and procedures of involvement and management of personnel and volunteers and to form proposals for the relevant internal policies of the organization, taking into account feminist principles.
During the event, the NGO team discussed a common vision and algorithms for interaction with staff and volunteers. They defined the principles on which cooperation is built. Among them are – equality, non-discrimination, transparency, inclusiveness, participation, respect, responsibility.
In addition, maps of interaction with employees were considered: from determining the need for involvement, search and selection, decision-making – to adaptation, distribution of roles, support, development, feedback and completion of cooperation.
It was also about the role of volunteers in the organization. First of all, about the principles of their involvement, definition of roles and tasks, limits of responsibility, support, security, recognition of contribution and completion of volunteer cooperation.
The result of the session was the substantive developments for the Personnel Involvement and Management Policy and the Volunteer Involvement Policy, as well as the identified responsible and next steps for their finalization. Both policies are designed with feminist values to strengthen their own feminist organizational capacity.
The event took place within the framework of the project "GEN-Recovery - building a gender-inclusive recovery together with the women's movement of Ukraine". The project is implemented by a consortium led by FOKUS in partnership with Український Жіночий Фонд / Ukrainian Women's Fund, Ла Страда-Україна/La Strada-Ukraine and the Cooperation Platform — Center for Public and Social Development with the support of the Norwegian government.
