Today, an important round table on the topic "Sexual violence as a weapon of war - the situation in Chernihiv region" was held in Novhorod-Siverskyi.
The event was attended by journalists, representatives of the Novhorod-Siverskyi and Ponornytsk communities, representatives of the sphere of social protection of the Novhorod-Siverskyi RDA and district communities, public organizations, the Novhorod-Siverskyi District Prosecutor's Office and the Novhorod-Siverskyi Legal Aid Bureau.
Special attention was paid to the problem of identifying cases of sexual violence related to the conflict and coverage of SNPK in the media of the district and communities, the work of journalists on this topic. The need to obtain legal and psychological help, the correctness of coverage of the topic in the mass media, the special importance of the role of the social protection structure population in providing support to persons affected by SNPK, all of these participants and participants of the round table identified as important components of work with this topic.
"The NGO 'Association for Democratic Development' presented an informative and methodological brochure titled 'Sexual Violence as a Weapon of War: Warn and Support,' which will be a valuable resource for all those working with or affected by sexual violence in conflict settings. Additionally, the organization's team presented the results of media monitoring of mass media in Chernihiv Oblast concerning coverage of sexual violence related to the conflict. This is an important step in shaping informed public opinion."

The event was held by the NGO "Association of Democratic Development" - a grantee of the Ukrainian Women's Fund/UZHF within the framework of the project "Let's stand together. Improvement of the system of support for victims of sexual violence related to the conflict/SNPK", which is carried out by the UZHF in partnership with the public organization "La Strada - Ukraine" and the Association of Women Lawyers of Ukraine "YurFem" with the support of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for of European and Euro-Atlantic integration and the Apparatus of the Government Commissioner for Gender Policy and financed by the European Union.
