Representatives of the NGO "Association of Democratic Development" joined the two-day workshop "Strategy in Civil Society Organizations", which took place in Transcarpathia within the framework of the "Impulse" project.
The workshop became important for all participants, as strategizing in civil society organizations — is a continuous process of defining a mission, vision and long-term goals, as well as choosing tools to adapt to the challenges of the external environment.
This process is close to planning, but is deeper because it is based on the goals, principles and values of NGOs. As the facilitator of the event and well-known expert on organizational development Olga Shelest determined, "a strategy without a plan is a conversation that does not change anything; and a plan without a strategy is just a list of things".
Therefore, for public organizations, strategizing is a key mechanism for ensuring vitality and influence.
In the conditions of military challenges for many NGOs, including ours, one of the priorities of strategizing is strengthening security and financial stability with a focus on diversifying sources of funding and protecting the team. In addition, it is important to scale projects to support vulnerable categories - IDPs, war victims, women, etc. It is also about work in front-line communities, support and development of women's organizations.
NGO "Association of Democratic Development" implements the project "Detection, prevention and response to security challenges in territorial communities of Chernihiv region". It is a component of the "Impulse" project, implemented by the International Renaissance Foundation and the "Eastern Europe" Foundation.
The event took place within the framework of the project "Empowerment of civil society for the sustainability and restoration of Ukraine ("Impulse")", implemented by the International Renaissance Foundation Міжнародний фонд "Відродження"together with the Eastern Europe Foundation Фонд Східна Європа зand financial support from Norway and Sweden.
