First aid training for representatives of public organizations and volunteer groups.
Do you know what to do in the first minutes after an injury? Most of us will answer honestly: "Approximately". The first aid course has been on the to-do list for years "sometime later".
It "then" does not exist for public organizations and volunteer groups working in the border communities of Chernihiv Oblast. Shelling and drone attacks occur regularly here. That is why within the framework of the project that the BF "Association of Democratic Development" implements in partnership with ZOA in Ukraine comprehensive support is provided for representatives of NGOs and volunteer groups participating in the group money transfer component: first aid training and first aid kits.
Participants spent the whole day in practice. They applied turnstiles, tamponed wounds, and used pressure bandages to stop bleeding. They learned to check the patency of the respiratory tract, use occlusive stickers for chest injuries, recognize signs of shock and prevent hypothermia of the victim. They disassembled help for fractures and burns, and also trained to safely move victims.
At the end of the day, the participants acted in simulated crisis situations: they assessed the condition of the victim, determined priorities and provided assistance according to the MARCH algorithm. Now they have both the knowledge and everything necessary to act. We sincerely wish that these skills are needed only in training.
