A meeting of the Interdepartmental Council on Family Issues, Gender Equality, Prevention and Counteraction to Domestic Violence and Counteraction to Human Trafficking was held in the Chernihiv Regional State Administration.
The meeting touched upon topical issues related to combating human trafficking, the implementation of state policy in the field of ensuring gender equality at the local level in conditions of war and the role of public organizations in the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 "Women, Peace, Security" at the regional level.
Chairman of the Association for Democratic Development Anna Nikolenko-Baeva stressed that the role of public organizations in the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 "Women, Peace, Security" at the regional level is extremely important. After all, martial law implies that most of the costs at the state, regional, local levels, first of all, are aimed at defense, protecting the country from the aggressor. "Therefore, in my opinion, now we, public organizations as an incontinent sector, should concentrate our efforts on attracting resources, including the implementation of regional action plans 1325," she stressed.
Since 2023, the Chernihiv Region 1325 Coalition has been operating in the Chernihiv Region, which includes representatives of executive authorities, local governments, civil society, enterprises, institutions and other interested parties. "We are consolidating our actions to localize the UN Security Council Resolution 1325" Women, Peace, Security "and the National Action Plan for its implementation in the Chernihiv region. And, in my opinion, we do it very successfully, "Anna Nikolenko-Baeva emphasized. During regular meetings of the Coalition, needs, challenges, achievements and plans for further activities are discussed.
In particular, last year the Coalition in the Chernihiv region implemented almost 10 projects to implement the regional action plan 1325. They were aimed at:
providing psychological support to the population of communities;
dedicated to women's leadership;
organizing media literacy events for women and girls,
informing about the system of assistance to victims of SNPK;
preserving the memory of the war, etc.
