Within the framework of the Cooperation Program between the Government of Ukraine and the UN on the prevention and counteraction of conflict-related sexual violence, UN Women implements the "Joint Program for Ukraine on Conflict-related Sexual Violence (SNPC)", financed by the European Union. As part of the implementation of the Joint Program with the SNPC, a joint visit of the implementing partners of the project took place in Chernihiv.
During this visit, the Government Commissioner for Gender Policy Kateryna Levchenko met with the secretariat of the Chernihiv Region 1325 Coalition and the head of the NGO "Association for Democratic Development" Anna Nikolenko-Baeva and her deputy Iryna Kulyk.
Conflict-related sexual violence (SNPC) is a weapon of war, one of the difficult war crimes to document. That is why this topic is at the center of the Chernihiv Region 1325 Coalition. The organizations that make up the Coalition implement projects that raise awareness of the SNPC and the assistance that victims can receive.
The result of the meeting was the actualization of joint interaction and coordination of further development of the aid system, the need to strengthen the information campaign regarding the SNPC in the territorial communities of Chernihiv Oblast, especially in those that were under occupation.
