In Ukraine, the action "16 days against violence" continues.
On December 7, 1999, the UN General Assembly declared November 25 the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. On this day, the international action "16 Days against Violence" traditionally begins, which is held annually until December 10. Its main goal is to draw public attention to the problems of overcoming domestic violence, gender-based violence, child abuse and combating trafficking.
After all, violence is not a private matter, but a social problem. As part of these activities, representatives of the juvenile police, state bodies throughout Ukraine will visit children's institutions, educational institutions in order to raise awareness about the types of violence, explain the legal mechanisms of protection, and call for intolerance to any manifestations of violence. This year, special attention is paid to manifestations of cyber violence.
According to a study by the Economist Intelligence Unit, 85% of women surveyed from 45 countries, including Ukraine, have experienced or witnessed online violence, and 38% of women reported having had personal experience of such violence. In addition, according to a survey of children aged 6-17 in Ukraine, every tenth child was asked to send their intimate photos.
The main manifestations of violence in the digital environment are:
yberstalking;
cyber dominance;
domestic violence using the Internet;
blackmail;
manipulation;
insults;
distribution of intimate materials without the consent of the victims, etc.
