The restoration of the country without women is impossible!
Women's HUB for restoration and development SheRebuildsHUB Poltava of the Ukrainian Women's Fund Український Жіночий Фонд / Ukrainian Women's Fund presented in Chernihiv.
The event brought together representatives of authorities, the public sector and women's organizations, focusing on taking into account the needs of all population groups in the process of recovery of both individual regions and the country as a whole.
The goal of the initiative is to ensure that the process of restoration and democratic governance in Ukraine is gender-inclusive and sustainable thanks to the active participation of the Ukrainian women's movement.
The initiative works in two directions:
- capacity development of Ukrainian women's public organizations, strengthening of their partnerships and networks;
- strengthening the role of Ukrainian women's organizations in recovery processes at all levels of governance. The event was attended by Anna Nikolenko-Bayeva, adviser to the head of the Chernihiv Regional State Administration on ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women and men, preventing and countering gender-based violence, head of the secretariat of the Chernihiv Oblast 1325 coalition. She emphasized that women's organizations of the region are actively working to support women, taking into account their needs in decisions at the local level.
Many active women work in the communities of Chernihiv Oblast, who not only help others, but also overcome daily challenges and unite people around common causes. Often, their experience highlights problems that may be overlooked for a long time. Because of this, it is crucial that women's participation in recovery is not formal, but involves real opportunities to propose solutions and influence their implementation.
The participants of the event got acquainted with the activities of the Khabu, its possibilities and directions of work, and also discussed the establishment of further cooperation between representatives of authorities, the public, women's and human rights public organizations of the Chernihiv region. These tools help to make women's needs visible and formulate specific proposals for local solutions. And partnership provides an opportunity to combine experience, knowledge and resources for their implementation.
The project is carried out by a consortium of organizations led by FOKUS (Norway) and Ukrainian partners — Ukrainian Women's Fund and NGO "La Strada Ukraine" with the support of the Norwegian government, provided through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway (Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway).
