Hygiene products from the NGO "EHarmony"

In the Horodnya community, 525 people with disabilities and people with reduced mobility will receive hygiene products

Hundreds of people with disabilities and people with reduced mobility remain in the border Horodnya community, who need personal hygiene products every day. For many families, these costs are overwhelming. The non-governmental organization "EHarmony" will provide them to 525 residents of the community.

The situation in the community

The Horodnya community is located 30 kilometers from the border with Russia. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, they have been living here under constant security pressure: shelling, economic difficulties, limited access to services.

Some residents cannot evacuate due to their health: they are the elderly, people with disabilities, and those who need constant care. Their families and caregivers remain with them.

For Iryna Krumkach, head of the NGO "EHarmony", this topic is personal. "I'm very sorry about this problem. I know that people with disabilities remain with minimal support. The state consistently supports large families and families of IDPs, namely people with disabilities, in our opinion, suffer the most", she says.

Why it matters

A person who cannot serve himself needs adult diapers, disposable diapers and urological pads every day.

When they are lacking, the risk of bedsores, infections and other complications increases. Care becomes more difficult, and the physical, psychological and financial burden on families — is even greater. For most families in the community, it is financially prohibitive to regularly buy these funds.

"Public payment is very meagre. If there is a carer in the family, he cannot officially work, and the care allowance is also insignificant. So hygiene products for such families become a big expense item", explains Iryna.

How needs were identified

Before the start of the initiative, the NGO "EHarmony" conducted a needs assessment.

Їit was held together with the Communal Institution "Center for the Provision of Social Services" of the Horodnya City Council and the elders of the Starosty districts. It was found that 301 people with disabilities and people with reduced mobility need adult diapers, disposable diapers and wet wipes, and 224 women need urological pads.

A total of 525 residents of the community. Indirectly, the initiative will support about 600 more of their family members, caregivers and caregivers.

Iryna knows this problem firsthand. "Three years ago, I was a community mobilizer in a similar project of another organization and collected all the data. Then I saw how significant this problem is for our community", she recalls. Since then, most of the "EHarmony" projects are aimed specifically at people with disabilities and residents with reduced mobility.

How it works

Each set is formed according to the needs of a specific person. During issuance, the team checks medical certificates that confirm the need for assistance to be fair and transparent.

Assistance is issued in cooperation with the Center for the Provision of Social Services and elders. And for those who cannot come alone due to their health, it will be delivered home by social workers.

"There are many people, they are from different villages, our logistics are difficult. Therefore, we hand over the lists to the elders, and they issue targeted assistance on the ground. Before each hand, we look at the security situation and call people so that there are no gatherings. We cannot endanger them", says Iryna Krumkach.

The aid will be issued until the end of November 2026.

"We created „EHarmony because we saw that now is the time when public organizations can make a great contribution to the development of the community", says Iryna Krumkach. The team of the organization — is five people who have been working together for three years and at the same time lead a volunteer group.
