"My name is Julia and I treat old furniture and make cozy scary interiors," is how the craftswoman from Sosnitsa, who moved from Crimea to Chernihiv in 2014, appears.
Yulia started her own volunteer project "Comfort for IDPs," turning abandoned houses into cozy dwellings for people who lost their homes due to the war. "It is important for people not just to have a roof over their heads, but to make their home cozy in a new place," she is convinced.
In the skillful hands of the designer, inconspicuous old houses and furniture, which others refuse, get a new life. Julia creates cozy spaces for free, using building materials from Ukrainian manufacturers and the support of caring subscribers who help with the purchase of necessary things.
Thanks to support from ZOA and the Humanitarian Fund for Ukraine (UHF), provided in partnership with Association for democratic development/Асоціація демократичного розвитку, Julia received the necessary equipment - a vacuum cleaner, a spray gun, a grinding machine, etc. This allowed her to expand the possibilities for restoration and creation of comfortable housing for immigrants.
"To create coziness, you do not need a lot of money, but above all - a big heart," says the master. Her "patients" are old furniture, which she turns into real works of art, giving them a second life.
The project "Comfort for IDPs' is especially important now, when many people come to the community from the border, fleeing from daily shelling. "I want it to be a relay of love and kindness," concludes Julia.
