An audit of the security of territories is an important step towards a safe community. This is understood in the Minsk and Kulikiv communities, which are participants in the project "Detection, prevention and response to security challenges in territorial communities of the Chernihiv region", which is implemented by the NGO "Association of Democratic Development" and which is a component of the "Impulse" project, which is implemented by the International Foundation "Renaissance" and IBO "Eastern Europe Foundation".
True safety — is when a community becomes a place where everyone, regardless of age, gender, health or life circumstances, feels heard, accepted and protected. It's:
- about streets and parks that are not scary to walk at night;
- about shelters that can be reached with a baby carriage or on a wheelchair;
- about public transport, accessible to all;
- about respect for human dignity - the basis of any security policy.
The security audit of the territory is an important component of security for the population and infrastructure, primarily in conditions of social or crisis situations. Its implementation can be initiated by various subjects, but it is always about systematic and professional work taking into account the needs of different population groups. And this practical tool allows you to assess risks, see vulnerabilities and change the situation for the better.
We appreciate our cooperation with the Minsk City and Kulikiv settlement councils. After all, when representatives of the authorities are actively involved in the audit, its results acquire official status. This means that the recommendations will be enshrined in local regulations or become part of official security and other local programs. In addition, the availability of security audit documents will allow local communities to approach the solution of security issues in populated areas more comprehensively and, in addition to budget funds, attract funding from national and international public organizations.
