Each hromada has its own security challenges

Each community has its own security challenges, but during the war, overcoming the consequences of hostilities and occupation becomes a priority. Residents and residents of the Ivanovo community spoke about this during a strategic session held within the framework of the project "Detection, Prevention and Response to Security Challenges in Territorial Communities of the Chernihiv Region."

Ivanovo community is located near the regional center of Chernihiv, has 17 settlements, where 5.5 thousand people live. In February-March 2022, it was occupied by Russian troops. Therefore, one of the challenges for local is to overcome the physical consequences of the war through the restoration of housing, various infrastructure обʼєктів, as well as the negative mental impact, since the war affects the psychological state of local residents and residents through increased anxiety, emotional reactions, irritability, etc.

During the strategic session, representatives of the active local community and authorities comprehensively analyzed the security challenges currently faced by women and girls in the community.

Working groups have been created in three territorial communities of Chernihiv region - Ivanovo, Novobylau and Kyiv, which have begun to develop relevant Action Plans to identify, respond to and prevent security challenges, taking into account the gender and inclusive needs of women and girls. This process is open and public.

For residents of hromadas, events will be organized focused on the formation of skills to respond precisely to those security challenges that will be identified during the development of relevant Action Plans for each hromada.

The project "Detection, Prevention and Response to Security Challenges in Territorial Communities of Chernihiv Region" is implemented by the NGO "Association for Democratic Development" within the framework of the project "Women, Peace, Security: Acting Together," implemented by the Ukrainian Women's Fund with the support of the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
