In every country there are women who can break and change the established system - from family to state.

In every country there are women who can break and change the established system - from family to state.

11 women who made an important contribution to the struggle for human rights in the former Yugoslavia and Albania, they became the heroines of the book "Resistance," the crowded presentation of which took place in the capital of Kosovo . Each of the Balkan countries experienced difficult periods of military conflicts, recovery and development. For each of them, countering violence in various manifestations, consistent upholding of human rights were important. The representative of the Association for Democratic Development Iryna Synelnyk also attended the presentation.

In many Balkan countries, traditional patriarchal values remain influential. However, it was women, who were often marginalized, who actually played an important role in establishing stable peace and post-war development of their states. It is impossible to fully understand this region without the voices of women.

During the meeting, the heroine of the book - Feride Rushiti, director of the Kosovo Center for the Rehabilitation of Victims of Torture KRCT and Sonja Biserko, Serbian human rights activist, founder of the Helsinki Human Rights Union in Serbia, told about her path and achievements.

The most important lessons from the recent history of their countries, they called solidarity, without which it is impossible to heal the wounds of war. And also - documenting war crimes as a recording of the truth that will help achieve justice.

Probably in the future, such a project will be important for Ukraine, because Ukrainian women also play an outstanding role in various spheres in war and in civilian life.
