Life after evacuation. Residents of the border of Chernihiv Oblast and Sumy Oblast receive financial assistance.
The NGO "Association for Democratic Development" in partnership with the BF "Right to Protection" and with the support of the Government of the United States of America is actively implementing a project to support the civilian population. As part of this initiative, residents of Chernihiv region and Shostky district of Sumy region receive a one-time payment in the amount of 12,300 hryvnias.
Provision of financial assistance to improve the safety, preserve dignity and improve the living conditions of the civilian population affected by hostilities, in particular evacuated persons and households damaged by shelling.
This financial assistance is intended for people who have been forced to leave their homes due to danger, shelling or evacuation orders and persons whose homes and property have been affected by rocket, unmanned strikes and other attacks.
One of those who was helped by this support to start life in a new place after the evacuation to Chernihiv was Ms. Olena (name changed for safety). The woman shared her story:
- "I left Semenivka when it became simply impossible to stay there. The village is located 12 kilometers from the border, so the shelling there almost does not subside. My house was damaged. The road to Chernihiv turned out to be difficult both physically and mentally — because I had to leave my whole past life there and start all over again", — shares the woman.
In addition to the stress of moving, Ms. Elena overcomes another difficult ordeal — more than two years ago as a result of the enemy's "arrival" she suffered a severe contusion and completely lost her hearing.
- "After the evacuation, I received help. These funds gave me the opportunity not only to get back on my feet in Chernihiv, arrange my first life and recover a little, but finally to engage in my treatment. Now I am trying to restore hearing in at least one ear. I am infinitely grateful to the Organization for this support. Without your help in the new place, I simply would not have managed. Thank you for not leaving us alone with this disaster", adds Ms. Olena.
About 100 people have already received financial assistance within the framework of the implementation of the project "Comprehensive services for the protection of the civilian population affected by hostilities and improving the resilience skills of workers who come to help first". Currently, registration for payment of assistance continues.
Cash assistance is provided in two directions:
- Assistance for evacuated persons
Payment for families who have moved during the last 45 days (recent evacuation) from territorial communities of Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhya, Luhansk, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Kherson, Kharkiv, Chernihiv regions, which are included in the list of territories in which hostilities are (were) conducted or temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation, approved by the Order of the Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine № 376 dated 28.02.2025 to territorial communities of Chernihiv region and territorial communities of Shostky district of Sumy region
2. Assistance to victims of shelling
Civilians whose houses, property or living conditions were damaged as a result of missile, unmanned or artillery strikes and who live in the territory of the communities of Chernihiv region and Shostky district of Sumy region, which are included in the list of territories in which hostilities are (were) conducted or temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation, approved by the Order of the Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine № 376 dated February 28, 2025.
