The NGO "Association of Democratic Development" is looking for a trainer on veterinary and agricultural topics for project participants who received agricultural support in the Chernihiv and Novgorod-Siversky districts of the Chernihiv region. 

​As part of a multi-sectoral project aimed at providing comprehensive support to the population affected by the armed conflict in the Chernihiv region (Novgorod-Siverskyi, Chernihiv and Koryukivskyi districts), which is implemented in partnership with an international organization ZOA.

Vacancy: Veterinary and agricultural trainer

The purpose of the training is to improve the agricultural skills and knowledge of the project participants who received agricultural support and live in the territorial communities of Chernihiv and Novgorod-Siversky districts of Chernihiv region

Training goals:

  • To provide project participants with practical knowledge and skills in feeding, keeping and preventing diseases of cattle, pigs and poultry in the conditions of a private household. 

  • Increase the level of veterinary and zootechnical awareness of project participants in order to improve the productivity of their farms.

  • Familiarize project participants with traditional and innovative approaches in raising animals, adapted to local conditions and available resources.

  • Promote the formation of a responsible approach to animal care, including disease prevention and proper feeding planning.

  • Motivate aid recipients to incorporate the knowledge gained into daily practice in order to ensure food security, sustainability and economic efficiency of their households.

Amount of work

Conducting 5 trainings in an offline format for project participants who received agricultural support. The training should be aimed at improving the agricultural knowledge and skills of households living in Chernihiv and Novgorod-Siversky districts of Chernihiv region and may include the following topics:

  • The main approaches in cattle feeding in the private sector;

  • Traditional and professional approaches in keeping and raising pigs in the conditions of the private sector;

  • Peculiarities and differences of raising poultry for meat and poultry for egg. 

 Taking into account the security situation, the format of trainings can be changed to online. 

Expected results

  • Training participants will have a clear idea of the key principles of feeding, keeping and prevention of diseases of cattle, pigs and poultry in the conditions of a private economy. 

  • Training participants will be able to independently prepare feed rations for different groups of animals, determine signs of common diseases and apply basic methods of prevention.

  • Training participants will learn to use available resources (feed base, veterinary products) most effectively and will become more knowledgeable about animal care, which will contribute to the general well-being of households.

As a result, training participants are expected to implement the received recommendations and positive dynamics in animal productivity (milkiness, growth, egg production).

Deadlines

  • Duration of service provision: August-September 2025.

Requirements for the performer

✅  Освіта:

  • Higher education (not lower than a bachelor's degree, but a master's degree will be an advantage) in the field of veterinary medicine, zootechnics, agronomy, biology or other relevant agricultural specialty. 

Mandatory requirements:       

  • Practical experience (at least 5 years) in the field of veterinary medicine and animal husbandry.

  • Experience in conducting trainings, seminars or training events (at least 2 years)

  • Knowledge of the local agricultural context of the Chernihiv region and the needs of residents of the communities of the Chernihiv region.

Will be an advantage:

  • Experience working with authorities, public organizations and international donors.
