NGO "Association of Democratic Development" joined the workshop on strengthening coordination and response to war-related sexual violence in Chernihiv region. The event was attended by non-governmental organizations of the region that work with issues of gender-based violence, including the SNPC, state and local authorities.
Within the framework of the Cooperation Program between the Government of Ukraine and the UN on the prevention and counteraction of conflict-related sexual violence, UN Women implements the "Joint Program for Ukraine on Conflict-related Sexual Violence (SNPC)", financed by the European Union. The workshop was held as part of a joint visit of implementing partners to Chernihiv. Participants considered a wide range of issues:
- SNPC as an international crime;
- national regulatory framework for responding to the CPPC;
- reparations as restoration of the rights of victims;
- regional referral mechanisms for victims of gender-based violence and SNPC;
- UN Women's SNPC Response Programs and Online Tools for підтримки victims and specialists who work with them;
- victim-centred approach, response, focus on referral and accountability.
Also, during the workshop, books about victims of war crimes "Living in spite of everything" were presented.
An important component of the event was the practical analysis of existing challenges in the Chernihiv region and their overcoming in the field of coordination and response to the SNPC.
