The roadmap "Strengthening the voice of rural women in the Chernihiv region" was presented during a meeting of the Chernihiv 1325 Coalition.
Rural women of Chernihiv play a key role in the development of local communities, ensuring social stability, economic well-being and the preservation of the cultural heritage of the region. Despite their contribution, women's participation in decision-making processes at the local and regional levels remains insufficient due to a number of barriers.
The road map "Strengthening the voice of rural women of Chernihiv in decision-making processes" was created by the participants of the project to form an inclusive environment that contributes to the sustainable development of communities by involving women in management processes, strengthening their leadership potential and ensuring equality of opportunity.
This document is the result of meetings with women of the Chernihiv region to discuss the problems of rural women, exchange of experience and proposals for solving individual problems.
The document is advisory in nature. The results can be used to develop regional and national programs aimed at ensuring gender equality and social justice.
The next step is the creation of a working group of representatives of various sectors at the regional level for further in-depth research, development and implementation of measures aimed at solving the problems of rural women in the Chernihiv region or including this aspect in the activities of already existing advisory bodies or working groups. Importantly, this is just the first step on the long road to achieving gender equality.
The roadmap was developed within the framework of the project "Support for Public Participation in Restoring the Resilience of the Communities of Chernihiv and Kyiv Regions," implemented by the Women's Consortium of Ukraine with the support of OXFAM GB.
