Social workers who travel tens of kilometers on rural roads every day received new transport

The experience of the Novobasan community is an example of how one initiative changes the lives of many people. Thanks to the grant within the framework of the Program for Support of Public Initiatives of Chernihiv Oblast, which we implement in partnership with an international humanitarian organization ZOA in Ukraine, the bicycle park of the local Center for the provision of social services has been replenished with seven modern electric bicycles.

New transport was given to social workers who travel tens of kilometers on rural roads every day to help the most vulnerable residents of the community —, the elderly, persons with disabilities, IDPs.

"This project — cares for those who care for others every day. I hope it will become an example for imitation and will spread to other communities", — shared Nataliya Bohdan, coordinator of ZOA projects in Chernihiv region.

She emphasized that the work of social workers — is extremely difficult and important. It's not just a profession — it's a call of the heart. New bikes will help deliver medicine, food and — support faster even to remote villages.

The project "Home care: on time and always", developed by the director of the Center Svitlana Yarosh, became one of the winners of the competition. Thanks to this, the daily work of 16 social workers serving 182 wards has become a little easier.

Representatives of donor organizations and the head of the Novobasan village council, Mykola Dyachenko, visited the ceremonial handover of electric bicycles, who thanked for his contribution to the development of the community's social sphere.

Changes begin with care! And it is initiatives like this that make communities stronger.
