Storytelling and photographing as psychological unloading

Creative activities for students of the Starobilousky Lyceum of the Novobilouska Village Council were conducted by a psychologist and a social worker as part of the project "Improving Access to Education and Child Protection Services for Those Affected by the War in Zhytomyr and Chernihiv, Ukraine," which is implemented by FONDAZIONE TERRE DES HOMMES ITALY with support from TERRE DES HOMMES NETHERLANDS and executed by the NGO "Association for Democratic Development."

According to project psychologist Elena Antonenko, 10 high school students received tablets a day. Children could photograph whatever they wanted. Then they selected 10 photos, which they discussed in a joint circle with a psychologist and peers. They talked about their feelings, emotions, vision of the world around. Then each participant chose one photo to which he wrote the text. "Our theater is a symbol and image of our city. He remains beautiful, continues to inspire even after being hit by an enemy missile. Our whole country is now striking as the Chernihiv Theater with its invincibility, "13-year-old Polina Pipkun shared her thoughts.

Selected children's photos and texts to them will be printed. They will be on display at school and then in Italy.

Olena Antonenko stressed that the project allows children through creativity to express their emotions, experience the negative experience of war. In addition, the work of Chernihiv schoolchildren will promote the dissemination of information about the war in Ukraine among Italian citizens.
