The team of Chernihiv Oblast took part in the training "Development of Regional Action Plans for the Implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 "Women, Peace, Security" for the period until 2030: Approaches, Coordination and Implementation", held in Kyiv.
The event brought together representatives of state authorities, the expert environment and civil society to improve the quality and effectiveness of the UN Security Council 1325 Regional Action Plans, take into account the regional context, cross-sectoral coordination and resources.
Our region was represented by the deputy director of the Department of Family, Youth and Sports of the Chernihiv Regional State Administration, Vyacheslav Golub, the head of the secretariat of the Chernihiv Region 1325 Coalition, Anna Nikolenko-Bayeva, and other representatives of the Coalition who will participate in the development of the Regional Action Plan.
"The quality of the Regional Action Plans for the Implementation of Resolution 1325 directly affects how effectively the principles of "Women, Peace, Security" are implemented on the ground. It is the regional level that is key to real changes in — communities from security to recovery and women's participation in decision-making", Kateryna Levchenko said.
The participants discussed the draft of the National Action Plan 1325 and how to implement it at the regional level, and also developed proposals for the implementation of the strategic goals of NAP 1325 until 2030 while working in groups, namely:
gender-sensitive response to security challenges,
inclusive recovery and
countering conflict-related sexual violence.
The training also discussed conducting security audits of territories, shelters and transport, integrating the gender component into community recovery plans and strengthening intersectoral interaction of all participants and performers. Participants presented solutions that can be used in the development of Regional Action Plans.
